Jack-Up Barges
Peru LNG Project
Construction period: 20-07-2010 - 20-07-2222
Location: Peru
Client: CDB Melchorita
The barge worked for a period of 9 months on the Peru LNG project at Pampa Melchorita, 170 kms. south from Peru's capital Lima. The marine facilities project consists in the construction of marine and port faciliteis for the towing and loading of gas tankers for the exportation of Liquefied Natural Gas. The marine facilities for this project consist in a gas loading platform, contention carter, 1350 meter long Marine Trentle and a 800 mter long breakwater located 1,500 meters offshore.
Our customer, CDB Melchorita has been contracted by LNG Peru for the marine facilities construction. This consortium is constituted by three main players in international construction and dredging being Saimpem, Odebrecht Brasil and Jan de Nul. The JB-108 was involved in the construction of the Jetty and the installation of the mooring dolphins and loading arms. Despite the difficult weather and sea conditions this project was carried out successfully and within the estimated period of time. Further contribution of the Van Es Group was the delivery of three crawler cranes by PVE Cranes and Services. A Terex HC210, Kobelco CKE 2500 and a Kobelco 7250 were commenced to assist with the building of the breakwater. The Kobelco CKE 2500 was installed on board of the JB-108 to carry out the piling job.
Due to major efforts of local people and our own Jack-Up Barge operator the barge was fully dismantled in a period of 5 days which can be seen as a new world record. From the working location the barge was transported over the Pan-American Highway to a container terminal in the City of Calloa. From there it sailed for 21 days to the Netherlands were it arrived safely and was stored in our Oosterhout facility.
